Both Article 37 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Section 38 of the Federal Data Protection Act stipulate that certain companies are legally obliged to appoint a data protection officer. These are companies that meet one of the following three requirements
- At least 20 people are permanently involved in the automated processing of personal data.
- The core activity of the company consists of the systematic processing of personal data.
- The company processes particularly sensitive personal data – regardless of its volume.

External cybersecurity officer according to Regulation (2019/1583)
Members of the secure supply chain must identify the CIS (Critical Information and Communication Systems) used for their purposes and must appoint a cybersecurity officer. CIS within the meaning of No. 1.7.1. of the Annex to Regulation (EU) 2015/1998) are all systems and data that could reduce the security level of civil aviation if their confidentiality, integrity or availability is lost, in particular

insofar as the systems alone or in conjunction with each other have an impact on aviation security.
